Sex Addicts Anonymous is a chain of support groups for sex addicts seen around the world. We help addicts and their families deal with sex addiction and try to overcome it.
Sex addiction is a controversial subject. Many do not believe that it is an addiction. Sex addiction or hyper sexuality was not accepted into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) which is the most important book when diagnosing mental disorders. However, we know that sex addiction can ruin lives and relationships.
Sex addicts have uncontrollable sexual thoughts and behaviors. Addicts' sexual behaviors may increase their risk of STI’s, ruin their relationships due to cheating, and make them lose money by going to strip clubs and getting prostitutes. Hyper sexuality is similar to a drug addiction; sex addicts have sex for temporary satisfaction but when it is over they are left wanting more. They all have sex for different reasons. Some perform sexual acts to get rid of stress or depression; others may have sex to forget about another addiction for example drugs or alcohol.
