They tried a version of this study for sex addicts. The people who claimed they had a sex problem were attached to wires to monitor their brain and were shown a variety of pictures, some sexual, some not. The results the researchers found were interesting. There was no unusual brain activity in the participants when shown pictures of sex. The researchers came to the conclusion that hyper sexuality could not be defined as an addiction by those standards. Many cannot believe that this sexual obsession is not an addiction. The hyper sexuality of some is something that they cannot stop. Researchers are still doing experiments to see if hyper sexuality is an addiction, and if it is not an addiction what it should be categorized as.
